Girdwood Winter Activities
The Girdwood Nordic Trails Committee has been hard at work grooming the cross-country ski trails in the area. Check out the new 5k trail, which begins at the Arlberg Road “T” intersection near the Hotel Alyeska. The Girdwood Nordic Ski Club is hosting a Wax Clinic this Saturday, November 12th from 4 – 6 pm at the Alyeska Race Training Center. It will be lead by the Director of the APU Nordic Program, Erik Flora. This is a DO NOT MISS event if you want great information about how to WAX YOUR SKIS!!! There is also a work session planned for Sunday, November 13th at 12pm at the soccer shed. These work parties are to fill in dips and low snow areas so the groomer can create smooth trails. If you would like to volunteer your time, please bring a shovel. Their goal is to have the trails groomed by Sunday evening! Check the GNSC website regularly for updates and announcements on the local trails.
Also opening soon is Mt. Alyeska! Conditions permitting, they will be open Wednesday, November 23rd from 10:30a-5:30p. Happy skiing- have fun & be safe!

Chances are, you’ve sampled their menu. If not, here’s some good news for you- The Turnagain Arm Pit BBQ will be reopening at the Alyeska Daylodge beginning shortly after Thanksgiving. Days of operation are Friday-Sunday, hours TBA.
