After 23 years of being licensed as a real estate professional I am always surprised when something new and different unfolds. So I get a call some time back from a local master carpenter and contractor from Girdwood I have known for many years. He has framed and built many homes in Girdwood, Anchorage, and the outlying areas. Kevin would call me about every other year amazed at how much is Municipality of Anchorage appraised tax value had risen, especially given that his house was unfinished. Each year we would have the same conversation and I would explain that values in Girdwood continue to rise and that he owned a well designed property on an amazing parcel of land (location, Stowe Circle).

This year I get a call from Kevin explaining that due to a couple of unfortunate construction accidents he had reached a point where he was ready to sell and move on. Kevin is one of those guys who drills down and does quality work. He made progress over the years but due to attention to detail and his construction business hadn’t been able to finish the property.

At this same time one of the couples we were working with on finding a home in Girdwood viewed the property and saw the potential. The home is located on a small rise on a culdesac with amazing views of Girdwood Valley and Bear Mountain. At close to a half acre lot there is even room for a detached garage with a mother in law apartment. The Flemings began talking to their favorite contractor, an architect, and decided that with their growing family (two young boys) that this was the place for them.

I always enjoy helping clients dreams become reality but this sale has been particularly satisfying. Kevin was ready to move on after 30 years of living in a “quite never finished” home and the Flemings were able to find a place that they can finish to meet their needs and tastes that has an amazing location and backbone to build upon.

What a great way to end 2019 for all of us at Glacier City Realty, personalized, professional and conscientious service, with a very big smile on this one!
